Which US Cities Are the Most Tech Savvy?

For tech job seekers or entrepreneurs looking for an area to put down roots, there are metropolitan areas that have long been considered prime choices. Now, a new study by TRG Datacenters validates much of the anecdotal information on the analyzed the most tech-savvy ones, defined as those with a tech culture deeply integrated into daily life. The study, which analyzed 49 metropolitan areas, considered factors such as the percentage of the remote workforce, the number of Wi-Fi hotspots, the estimated number of households with computing devices, job availability rates in the tech sector, and the estimated number of annual tech events.

The study used these metrics to develop a scoring system that ranks the cities based on their tech adoption and infrastructure. The data was sourced from the U.S. Census Bureau Wi-Fi Map and other relevant sources, providing a comprehensive overview of each city's tech integration.

A spokesperson from TRG Datacenters commented: “As tech continues to permeate everyday life, cities that foster robust remote work environments, abundant Wi-Fi access, and vibrant tech communities are redefining urban living. This shift not only transforms how we work and connect but also shapes the future of city planning and development. The ability to balance high-speed connectivity with opportunities for professional growth and community engagement is becoming a defining feature of modern, forward-thinking urban centers. The most tech-savvy cities are those that seamlessly weave technology into the fabric of daily life, making it as essential as any other infrastructure.”
