Wake Up to Mario on This Alarm Clock From Nintendo
Alarm clocks have long been viewed as annoying but necessary devices to awaken someone in the morning, or whenever. Some people have even ditched alarm clocks, instead setting their more interesting smartphones to get them up. But game maker Nintendo is trying to inject fun into the dreaded alarm clock with its new Alarmo, an interactive alarm clock that can be set up in myriad ways to exhibit all types of sounds and animations that will make the wake-up experience, well something at least tolerable if not downright fun.
In this YouTube video on the CNET channel, the reviewer has a ball putting Alarmo through its paces, testing different immersive animations, music, and sounds, which involve characters from Nintendo games including Mario, Link, Princess Zelda, and many more. Behind its video game-like design is clever engineering using many sensors that detect the user’s position in bed, and increase the volume and intensity of their sound to make sure the user wakes up. Likewise, Alarmo can be as entertaining a clock to lull the user to sleep at night.
Costing $100, Alarmo is not cheap, but its advanced technology and entertainment value may just prompt one to shut off his or her iPhone or other smartphone at night for good. You can watch the video here.
